Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum (GeoCentre)

Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum (GeoCentre)

Located behind a charming stone facade of the restored former Bond Store is one of Broken Hill’s top mining museums. The Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in learning about the formation of the world’s largest deposit of silver, lead and zinc in Broken Hill. The museum also boasts an impressive collection of minerals unique to the area.

One of the museum’s highlights is the famous Silver Tree, which was crafted using 8.5 kilos of silver and was once owned by Charles Rasp. Rasp was the boundary rider who, along with his partners, staked the first mining lease in Broken Hill. Be sure to add this museum to your itinerary on your next trip to Broken Hill.
