Stephen’s Creek Reservoir

Stephen’s Creek Reservoir

Located 17 kilometers from Broken Hill on the Barrier Highway, Stephen’s Creek Reservoir is a testament to the town’s struggle with water shortages in the past. It was the only reservoir for the town until 1914, but it frequently dried up, causing anger among the locals towards the Sydney government’s indifference to Broken Hill’s water supply. Today, visitors can enjoy the lookout area and make use of the picnic tables and barbecue facilities while taking a leisurely stroll around the peaceful reservoir. There’s also a children’s playground for younger visitors to enjoy.
