Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum

Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum

The Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum offers a glimpse into the connection between Broken Hill’s mines and the world beyond. This unique museum is located in the city’s original station, built in 1905. Visitors can step aboard historic trains and explore memorabilia from the Silverton Tramway system. For almost a century, the tramway system transported loads of silver, lead, and zinc out of town, destined for ports worldwide.

It also features four other captivating museums: the Broken Hill Migrant Museum, the Hospital Museum, the Ron Carter Transport Pavilion, and the Tess Alfonsi Mineral Collection. The onsite Johns Brothers Joyland funfair adds to the unique atmosphere of the place. Together, these museums provide a comprehensive picture of life in the Silver City, making the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum a must-visit destination.
