The Palace Hotel

The Palace Hotel

The Palace Hotel is a legendary landmark in Broken Hill that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. While you may recognise this three-story, corner building from its starring role in the 1994 Australian film “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” the Palace Hotel has been a Silver City icon for over a century.

Originally established in 1889 as a coffee house by the temperance movement, this grand old lady became a licensed hotel just three years later and has been entertaining guests with its colorful history ever since.

Stepping inside, you’ll be transported to a world of Renaissance-inspired art and Australian landscape murals painted by Indigenous artist Gordon Waye. If you’re a fan of the movie, you can even stay in the Priscilla Suite, where the characters themselves spent the night.

The Palace Hotel isn’t just about reliving cinematic history. They offer regular events such as two-up games, drag bingo, karaoke nights, and the annual Broken Heel Festival in September.

If you’re looking for a meal, the Palace Hotel is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. And if you’d like to stay the night, the Palace Hotel offers a range of themed accommodations to choose from.
